Integration of Linked Data in SeCo
Search Computing applications allow structured data gathered from Web sources to be queried and visualized. The Linked Data initiative aims at publishing and inter-linking structured data on the Web, using Semantic Web formats and technologies. Hence, Linked Data represents a possible data source for Search Computing systems. At the same time, Search Computing applications can themselves contribute to the Linked Data vision of a Web of Data since their queries produce structured data as well.
The proposed thesis aims at investigating these two integration directions, by
- studying the integration between the Linked Data and the SeCo models, both at a schema (OWL ontology) and instance level;
- designing and implementing a solution to enable the use of Linked Data in SeCo applications;
- designing and implementing a solution to expose SeCo applications as sources of Linked Data, e.g. by realizing a SPARQL query interface on top of them.
Previous knowledge of Web and Semantic Web technologies is useful, although not required.
